Today, my Pastor both focused his sermon on Prayer; as well as, shared this article with me from a local newspaper columnist, entitled: “Prayer Isn’t A Team Sport“.  It is from the Falls Church News-Press… check it out:
I was dismayed at what this columnist had to say on the subject of Prayer!
If you don’t take the time to read the article, the author basically states that prayer has no place in sports – should be reserved for individuals in church on Sundays.
Throughout scripture, God commands us to pray: Luke 18:1, Romans 12:12, Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 4:2, and 1st Thessalonians 5:17.
I found this article / “Op-Ed” very troubling… to say the least.
The author speaks of “hypocrisy”… according to him, we shouldn’t encourage PRAYER!?!
I, for one, don’t know where I’d be WITHOUT prayer… hardly believe we shouldn’t be encouraging it both IN PUBLIC, WITHIN TEAMS, etc…… Read the rest

Valentine's Day

Today is Valentine’s Day. This is the day when you are supposed to give your “significant other” a special gift to show your love for them. Popular gifts include flowers, candy, and jewelry.   Perhaps, you are one that forgot that today was Valentine’s Day?  Or, perhaps, you are one that went “all out”, waking up early to make a special breakfast, sent flowers, have a special dinner / evening planned.

God gave us a much costlier gift to prove His love for us.  He demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).

Blessings on your day!… Read the rest

Luke 9:23

I had a Pastor friend of mine contact me today, asking what Luke 9:23 meant to me?  He was looking to include some of my thoughts on that in a sermon he was working on.  For those that don’t have a bible handy, Luke 9:23 states: “Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
WOW… Where to begin?!?
What that passage means / has meant to me, in my life is A WHOLE LOT!
I have awoken each day, still experiencing, struggling with, fighting against the same temptations of homosexuality that I feel I was born with.  And, that stinks (to put it mildly).
But, I continue to look back at what God (Jesus) has done for me!  Jesus living the perfect life and then suffering / dying on the cross for my sins (and yours), conquering death and the devil, rising triumphant, and I am / have been / continue to be HUMBLED!  He did that for me?!?
And, while at times, I get EXTREMELY frustrated… saying: “Why Lord, am I not attracted to women?… Why can’t I have ANY sort of God-pleasing sex life – with a wife?”  “Why me, Why me???”
I turn back to Luke 9:23; as well as, other areas of God’s Word, and I concentrate and am THANKFUL for the Bigger Picture.  I can (as we all can – with the help of The Holy Spirit) see The Finish Line (Heaven, Eternal Life).  And, that is where all of our eyes should continually be set.
God never promised us a rose garden here on earth.  But, He did promise far better; one day, with Him in Heaven!
Regarding this, I often turn to the Apostle Paul’s writings in 2 Corinthians 12:8,9 for encouragement. … Read the rest

Monday, Monday, Monday!

For me, today was the OPPOSITE of the popular song: “Rainy Days & Mondays Always Get Me Down…”
Today was quite the opposite… a very uplifting one, as by another example of God’s AMAZING Grace, a young man that I have been speaking with for months now – regarding his struggles with and succumbing to homosexuality – agreed to leave that lifestyle, return to church, and seek counseling!!!
God IS Great!
At times, I get down, because of the large numbers of folks I talk with, who don’t want to hear God’s Word, and lash-out when I offer my advice / help.  So, days like to today, are a GREAT reason to rejoice!
“This IS the day The Lord has made.  Let us REJOICE and be GLAD in it!”
Praying this day has been as great for you, as it has been for my friend, and I !… Read the rest

Thanks for visiting! TGIF!

I created this page awhile back, but have been pretty remiss in developing it.  I have been pretty active for sharing things on Facebook, but kept getting warnings, etc from them for sharing “hateful” things.  In actuality, what I’ve been sharing is God’s Word on homosexuality.  Unfortunately, there are a number of people that equate that (sharing God’s Word) to speaking hatefully… condemning people, etc.
So, that has motivated me to FINALLY get off my behind and work on this website again.
I am a pretty open & honest guy.  I hope you’ll feel free to respond to postings, post your own observations and questions here, etc.
God’s Blessings on your weekend!!… Read the rest
